It’s Not An Option…
In our last post, we shared with you some stories of people who struggled and failed, but didn’t quit, and eventually became great successes, and on a global scale.
The people were Winston Churchill, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, Elvis Presley, Dr. Seuss, Abraham Lincoln, Steve Jobs, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney and Thomas Edison. Quite an impressive list… so if you’ve ever struggled on your path to success, you’re in good company!
Now, we all know some of these stories, and they encourage us when we’re feeling down. That’s useful, but there’s much more to be gleaned here.
Because ultimately, all of our work isn’t all about us, it’s also about the billions of people we’re here with…. the people we connect with, the people we live with and the people we don’t even know yet! The lives we each share and the lives we touch… So don’t just think about the successful people we’ve already talked about, and their great success. Instead, think of all the lives that they’ve touched, and all the impact that they’ve had.
Just that small group of people have changed the face of our world.
But what if they had quit? Imagine this world without their collective works and deeds! No Churchill, no Spielberg, no Dr. Seuss, no Lincoln and no Disney. Can you do it? How different would THAT world be from the world we live in now?
And that’s only 13 people.
Margaret Mead said it wisely: “Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
But only if they don’t quit!
So keep on going……
The world is counting on you.
